retirement village in auckland

Senior aged people need someone to look after them when they reach a certain age especially when no one is there to look after them. The options that these people generally have is either to hire someone full time or to shift in some rest homes or retirement villages in auckland. But each of these option has its own pros and cons. Retirement villages are gaining very popularity these days and many people are excited by this idea but before you decide to join a retirement village, you should understand the complete picture and should not only see the benefits it offer you but also the demerits it come with.

Pros:

Save living expense:

When people are left alone then they prefer to shift in the smaller house and the retirement village is the best way since one can sell their house and then buy a small apartment in the retirement village. This is how they can save the expense of living in larger house and could also share the apartment with their fellow people.

No need to do chores:

Since in retirement village you can get the services so you do not have to worry about the cleaning, cooking or maintaining but you could spend your retirement time with the things you like to do and could explore various interests.

Nurses and medical attention:

Senior citizens mostly require medical attention and therefore, retirement villages provide them with the nurses who keeps a check on their medicines regularly so that these people could enjoy the better healthy lifestyle and could be active and fresh.

Social engagements:

Since every person lives in the close community and everyone is almost of the same age and is retired with nothing much to do so these people could come together and engage themselves in various social activities which are healthy for their mental health and help them pass their free time.

Cons:

Expensive:

There are number of expenses associated with the retirement village and if you compare it to the nursing home or retirement homes then it is more expensive in a way that you first have to buy your own place and then you have to pay for the amount of the time you live there and not only this but the services that you acquired in this time period. Therefore, keep in mind all the expenses before you shift.

No kids around:

Because in the retirement village there are usually only old age people in the surroundings and not like normal areas you do not see any families and kids. You have to walk certain miles to be in the area of kids and families. Whereas if you live in your own house then you would be able to have all kinds of neighbours.

Do it if only required:

If you are healthy and active and you can take care of yourself then you might as well live in the area where you have always been living instead of retirement villages.
